The Great Escape...

With Wednesday almost done, I am already dreaming about the weekend. This weekend, I am hoping to get out of city and enjoy some fresh air and springtime blooms north of NYC in the Hudson River Valley.

Known for the sweeping views, laid-back atmosphere and vintage hunting, I am sure to be in heaven.

Great food and wine are also definitely on the list...

To Do: Get Organized...

Every night before I go to bed, I create my to do list for the next day. As organized as I try to be, inevitably I end up with random post-it notes scattered around my desk the next day. Maybe I would be a little more organized and keep it contained, if I had one of these awesome to do lists...

Lazy Daisy...

Photo: Graham Owen Photography

After picking up my daisy lamp at Eastern Market over the weekend, it reminded how happy daisies make me. Their bright and cheery color always reminds me of summer. I remember as a kid making daisy chain necklaces and headbands.

A few inexpensive daisies in a vase can be perfect for a casual summer get together...

Daisies can also look quite sophisticated when grouped together in this striking arrangement from Domino

Eastern Market Finds...

Picked up this adorable daisy lamp at Eastern Market in DC this weekend. Trying to decide if it's going to live on my bedside table, or my desk...

Vintage Hunting in DC...

I just returned from a fabulous weekend of visiting friends and family in DC. Sunday was marked by a trip to Eastern Market in Capital Hill. The open air farmers market/ flea market always yields a ton of vintage treasures and this weekend was no different.

I scored an amazing bright yellow bamboo chair for my desk and a vintage lamp with metal flowers (pictures coming soon...)

One of the best parts of the market is wandering around with a freshly popped bag of kettle corn. The sweet, salty combination satisfies every craving and is easily shared...

Friday Obsession...

Photo: Living, Etc via Apartment Therapy

Happy Friday! Today marks the completion of my first full week of blogging. (Yay!) To celebrate that fact, I thought I would introduce my first weekly feature, Friday Obsession. Each week, I'll share the vintage (or non-vintage) items that I have been drooling over (and trying to get my hot little hands on) for my own apartment.

First up are some vintage metal dining chairs. I love the contrast of painted metal against a wood table, or in my case a round, white tulip table from CB2. Here are a few of my favs...

These need a little love, but have great lines and would awesome at the ends of a dining table...

If there's any item you've been obsessing about, I'd love to hear about it...

Here Comes the Sun...

Now that the weather has cleared up a bit, I am delighted by the sun streaming in the window each morning. I've never had an apartment that has gotten morning sun, so it's a big change for me.

I have always considered myself an late afternoon sunshine person. I love the golden glow that happens right before the sun sets for the night.

Which do you prefer, morning sunshine, letting you know it's time to get up, or winding down in the afternoon sunshine?
